Global Skin Hub (GSH) is conducting research to improve the efficacy of cosmeceutical products by maximizing the skin penetration of active ingredients and increasing stability through liposome technology, a biocompatible nano-delivery system.
Liposomes are spherical double-membrane structures made of phospholipids, and are biocompatible delivery systems with properties similar to cell membranes . Thanks to their double-membrane structure, they have the ability to stably capture water-soluble and fat-soluble active ingredients and effectively deliver them deep into the skin. Due to these characteristics, they are being used as a technology (DDS, Drug Delivery System) to increase skin absorption of active ingredients in the cosmetics and pharmaceutical fields.
Liposomes are manufactured based on natural emulsifying ingredients, such as Lecithin or Hydrogenated Lecithin, and in addition to emulsifying functions, they also provide soothing, skin conditioning, and antioxidant functions. In addition, thanks to their structural properties similar to the skin barrier, they can effectively pass through the stratum corneum and deliver active ingredients to the dermis. Utilizing this technology can maximize the efficacy of functional cosmetics, and they have the advantage of being able to work deeper into the skin while maintaining the stability of active ingredients.
